We were invited to design an interior for a start-up candle craftsman, where production and café functions are brought together within a single space. The design explores the use of natural materials to reflect a narrative of non-artificial and waste-free ingredients, aligning with a broader sustainability agenda. Spaces are arranged in a piecemeal manner, allowing different functions to unfold gradually. Within the constraints of a typical shoplot in downtown Kuala Lumpur, the layout forms a small, meandering sequence of rooms, encouraging movement, discovery, and a closer reading of how making and gathering can coexist.
